Canterbury Diving Club was founded over 53 years ago and is affiliated with the British Sub – Aqua Club. The club today runs with a nucleus of about 35 members, the membership coming from all walks of life, all with the common interest in going diving.
The club tends to dive around the Kent coast where there is an exciting underwater world to explore, including wildlife and wrecks.
We dive by either chartering boats for the weekend or taking the club RIB out for the day.
Over the last few years, we have taken club trips, to Portsmouth, Weymouth, Leicester, Scotland and smaller groups to the Red Sea.
Although primarily a group that likes to go diving, we offer training for BSAC diving certifications to encourage new members to join us.
We have our pool session every Thursday night at Kingsmead Pool in Canterbury where you can try new kit, learn new skills or practice your current skills.
We have all the necessary equipment needed for diving (except drysuits, which are individual size specific).
The Club is also actively involved with Seasearch, a national project for volunteer sports divers who have an interest in what they’re seeing under water, want to learn more about the marine environment around the UK, and contribute towards its conservation.
The Club has a very active Social Calendar and has already held the following activities this year.
New Year’s day swim, Xmas Party, Bowling, Crazy Golf, Paintball, Beach BBQ, River Trips, and Boat Trips.
We also help the local borough council with river cleaning and participate in local community activities like the Deal Carnival.
If you want to see if diving is for you, then contact us to book a try dive in the pool. We can then tell you all about learning to dive with us.
