Exciting Dive at Walpole Bay: A Historic Underwater Adventure

This past Thursday, several members of the Kent Scuba Club embarked on an adventurous dive at the iconic Walpole Bay. Although the entry proved challenging due to a buildup of seaweed, our divers navigated through with determination.

The dive offered a unique experience, with visibility varying across different spots in the tidal pool. Despite these conditions, the overall dive was enjoyable and rewarding.

Walpole Bay is a remarkable Victorian tidal pool, constructed in 1937 and recognized as a Grade II listed structure. Spanning 4 acres, this historic pool is the largest of its kind in the UK, stretching 450ft in length, 300ft wide at the sea end, and 550ft at the land end, with depths reaching up to 6ft.
